What does cocaine do?
Ok, skipping over the drugs-are-bad-for-you-they-ruin-your-life lecture, what exactly does coke do? There is a rumor going around my school that this girl (who apparently lost a lot of freight and look emaciated now) is on coke, and I'd like to know exactly what it is that coke does/how does it make you touch that people become addicted to it?
Best Answer: Cocaine in a central apprehensive system (CNS) stimulant. Its primary mechanism of action involves the neurotransmitters dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. The simple answer is that cocaine basically FORCES the release of these neurotransmitters. And, by interacting next to DAT (dopamine active transporter) dopamine is not cleared out of the brain. So not only is dopamine being forced out of their storage but it is not competent to break down. Thus the brain is flooded with chemicals. These chemicals will have an acute effect of increasing concentration, energy, and focus- much resembling amphetamines, more powerful stimulants. The dopamine is the drug the body uses to reward us and make us feel good. But cocaine produces in the order of 100 times more dopamine to be released then is normally present in the brain. That one said the brain is capable of making 100 units of dopamine at its natural max (but not for particularly long) and cocaine produces 200 units. Dextromethamphetamine (the highest grade Meth) will produce roughly speaking 1,200 units of dopamine. Addiction which is actually very intermittent is due to many factors. But one major one is that the body reduce the amount of dopamine it naturally makes after multiple exposures to cocaine. So more and more cocaine is needed to reach a "elevated." Eventually the user needs the drug to feel normal and it can become almost impossible for the drug to induce euphoria. And long occupancy use can cause depression. And cocaine and other stimulants are anorexiants (weight loss drugs). This is due to the increased stimulation. But the weight loss tends to cut over time. Cocaine can also cause other effects, high blood pressure, tachycardia, hear palpitations, anxiety, agitation, insomnia, hallucinations, psychosis, delirium, requisition, and death.

"Cocaine (benzoylmethyl ecgonine) is a crystalline tropane alkaloid that is obtained from the leaves of the coca plant. The name comes from "coca" within addition to the alkaloid suffix -ine, forming cocaine. It is both a stimulant of the central nervous system and an appetite suppressant. Specifically, it is a dopamine reuptake inhibitor, a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor and a serotonin reuptake inhibitor, which mediate functionality of such as an exogenous DAT ligand. Because of the way it affects the mesolimbic reward pathway, cocaine is addictive." Cocaine is a stimulant. It's kind of like drinking tons of coffee. It make you very alert. Many people feel deeply energetic and social. It can last for about partially an hour to several hours, depending on your method of ingestion and the purity. Common side effects during use; it can make you clench your jaw and grind your teeth. You will have a decrease appetite. If you smoke cigarettes, you will wind up chain smoking. You also spend the entire night fear like you have a runny nose (if you snort it). It can provide some people anxiety reactions, tremors, panic attacks, paranoia, seizure. Some people also experience a "crash" when it wears off or the following afternoon where you may feel lethargic and/or depressed. This adjectives also assumes that you're getting pure, uncut cocaine which is nearly impossible to come by. Depending on what the cocaine has been "cut" with it can produce different other effects. Most cocaine in my area has be extensively cut with baby laxatives or caffeine pills or something else of that nature. You could loop up with some seriously adverse reactions so talk to other nation that have used the exact same substance from the same source first!! Due to the side effect of appetite loss many frequent users do lose a great deal of weight - simply because they have tons of energy and they don't guzzle. It's not healthy. People get hooked on it A.) because it's fun. Its a stimulant, it gives you verve and makes you feel good. and B.) because of the "crash". When you start loosing the effect various people will "chase the high" by doing more to counteract the ill effects of the drug wearing off. If you do cocaine contained by large enough quantities recurrently enough or enough instances of back-to-back dosing you will eventually get to a point where on earth you feel awesome when you use cocaine that day and like out-and-out shit when you don't.Related Questions...
