OTC Drugs, do they really serve a purpose?
I do understand that OTC drugs like Advil and Tylenol do have the medication contained by them that make the brain transmit pain nerve impulse not being able to reach the brain but I surface thats its more of the mental aspect of it. People think b/c they just popped 2 advil that will make their skipper feel better and a half hour later they are fine. How do you touch about this?
Best Answer: Although I believe mostly in natural remedies, prevention and nourishing living, I do use both prescription and OTC drugs when truly needed. Do I think they really work and aren't just a placebo that makes us judge ourselves better? Yes I do. The reason I do is because of the fact that many of these same drugs are used on babies and animals and come across to work. This would remove the placebo possibility as they have no concept of it. I do think there are times that medicine are used that way be adults and teens and certainly more natural solutions should be employed first but I do see efficacy in OTC drugs. I would like to say that fever are important to the healing process and unless the fever is treacherous or a child/adult is extremely uncomfortable I don't give meds to reduce disorientation. Also, cold medicines only mask symptoms and various in the natural industry feel that it can in truth drive a cold deeper into the body and make it take longer to get over it within the long run.
