Is at hand a given name for my "phobia"?

I've always been scared by Organs, as contained by the instrument, the ones in Churches, though I've never known why. Does anyone know what this possible "phobia" (if it is one) is called? Or where on earth it stems from? I also hate tall things (like buildings or statues etc) but only if I own to stand beside/near/under them. Apart from that I'm fine. It's not a fear of heights, it's more a fear of something looming over me. Look, I know it may nouns stupid to be scared of such things, but people are afraid of spiders, and I personally estimate that's stupid (but I have nothings against people who are, my mum's one.) Any suggestions would be helpful, gratefulness.
Best Answer: Generally speaking, all these types of fears are categorized as "Agorophobia." I could not find one specific to church organs. There is a list (see link below) but probing for the word "organ" didn't turn up anything. I would suspect your fear is from the association of organ music with spooky scenes surrounded by movies, like scenes in a bleak church or a cemetery, where Vincent Price is about to eradicate someone in a horrifying manner. Batophobia- Fear of heights or person close to high buildings.(From the phobia list below.) In my experience, the best way to overcome these fears is to to obviously put yourself in a controlled situation and then face them. For instance, as an youngster, I fell on an escalator once. It was a stressful time of life and I was injured and publicly embarassed (my dress flew over my head). The subsequent time I got on one of those flying stairs, I was nervous. It get increasingly worse each time, until I found myself going out of my way to avoid them. I wouldn't go to faultless mall places. I have helped myself overcome this foreboding to some degree by putting on running shoes and deliberately riding escalators. The flat, lace-on shoes give me control. Empty hand give me control. The decision to do this gives me control. 35 years following, I'm not over it but it is manageable. Perhaps you could arrange to play around with a church organ, supervised, with the lights on and a friend along to assistance. Get behind the scenes and examine the thing, see how it works, press some key, etc. Hope this helps you.
