It is major NOT to use untested supplements while trying to get pregnant as many of them hold no safety profile in hasty pregnancy and thus there may be a risk of damage to the foetus.

The exception is folic tart, this should be taken both pre-conceptually and during the first trimester as it reduces the foetal risk of neural tube defects such as spina bifida. The sanctuary of multivitamins is NOT clearly established. A large study to look at this is detail was set up on a multi-centre foundation in the UK about 20 years ago, but it be abandoned. The Medical Ethics Committee became doleful with even this study being perform on pregnant women, in case it resulted within any foetal defects, so the study was never carried out.
