Going to the Dentist: Pain, please assist?

My pain tolerance is so low. Is there anything I can take that you can recommend that I can lug that will relax me and help the after pain. Okay, don't laugh, I'm lone getting my teeth cleaned. Please, it's a serious question. I will be driving myself to my appointment.
Best Answer: >Okay, don't laugh, I'm only getting my teeth cleaned. Meh, a regular checkup/cleaning isn't that rough. The little rotary toothbrushes can be annoying, but it's not like actually having a tooth taken out. To be sure, though, have a tooth taken out doesn't hurt so much right at the time...it's when the anaesthetic wears off that it gets desperate. For the record, I took ibuprofen to deal with that and it seem to help (both with the jaw distress itself and the headache that it caused), but that's unlikely to work for you. I think most pills would be too slow-acting to be of any use to you, so all I can recommend is using psychological techniques to appropriate your mind off of it, like constantly telling yourself 'it's going to be over really soon, if I do anything it'll simply make it worse', or trying to work out the words in the music they're playing, or something like that. You know, standard self-distraction technique.

for teeth cleaning, it is not painful at all, you will just get hold of the vibration of the scaler tip with water jet while cleaning. but if its so sensitive then you can ask for local anaesthesia.
