Is it possible to develop a resistance to anesthesia?
Today i went to my dentist because she had to place 2 capsules (i hope its the right word.. i scrounging 2 artificially made teeth that go to cover the real ones). She started by giving anesthesia to each tooth through the gengiva (or to be exact what it felt like, but anyway it was not contained by the conventional spot). She started working but I could still feel pain so she used some lidocaine directly on the area.. that also did not stop the backache; so she proceeded to giving me the conventional injection of anesthesia (behind the molar) : my lip and tongue were not exaclty numb but half way here id say. So we waited give or take a few 15 minutes and the numbness was more; she started working but still i could feel pain so she have to do another injection and that did the trick (again we had to wait quite some time!)!
I have gone to her a few times before: the first time the injection did the trick (had to wait couple of minutes or so but worked); second time one injection also was sufficient but we have to wait around 10 -13 minutes for it to work!
So, is it possible that my system is developing a sort of resistance towards anesthesia?? Today between injections and waiting, all together had to hang around 1 hour for anesthesia to make the right effect!
my 3 visits to the dentist where respectively separated by 1 or 2 weeks, so all together all this happened inwardly a month.
Were 4 injections dangerous regarding quantities?
Best Answer: dear friend this condition have been affected by many factor, but the common ones are: 1) you are sensitive to pain, in another word, you quality pain easier than another person do, so you need more dose of local anesthetic agent, but this can not be approved unless you try another dentist. 2) site of injection is not appropriate. 3) drug is not ably effective. my advice is to try another dentist, and if this repeats, that means you are more sensitive to discomfort if we are agree that drug is effective. have good strength
