Dental Question? Help please?
Hello. I’m sorry for this long question.. But I’m very worried. I had a dentist appointment yesterday at 2:30 p.m. And it be just for one filling. I’ve had plenty of teeth packed, and had no problems what so ever, besides a little tooth pain. But this one is a totally different story. I have the tooth filled, but I felt pain during the injection for the first time. I notice when they gave me the injection, I had a “bubble” and of course I asked them around this. They told me it was normal, and it was only a bubble from the injection. Because instead of numbing that tooth and the other surrounding teeth, they just numbed that one. It caused a "numb" bubble Over time the numbing went away, and the bubble shrunk.. But it’s still nearby. I can feel it like with my appendage. Might I add I have an abscessed tooth right next to the tooth I have filled. But I’ve been taking my antibiotics for at least a week very soon. But my biggest concern is.. is the so called bubble normal? should I worry? I can‘t back that though, its in my nature to be a worry wart. They said it's where on earth they injected the medicine into my jaw, and it created a "numbing bubble" but like I mentioned nearer, a small part of it is still there, just sitting on my chin. It's been Thirteen hours, going on Fourteen! Should I be concerned? I’m having jaw affliction of course, and frequent minor headaches/ear aches all of a sudden. What's going on? Could I somehow hold Nerve Damage? Thank You for any answers, and taking the time to read this. I appreciate it 100%.
Oh i forgot to mention.. It is allergy season, and that could be causing my headaches and ear aches.
Best Answer: Hi nearby. I guess I should say sorry for the long answer! But here it goes: The pain during injection and the bubble are both cause by the dentist injecting the medicine too fast. This can be unpleasant and very sore, but cause no damage. Both of these things are completely normal when the dentist injects too fast. Trying to work from you description, it sounds resembling the needle went into the gum at the side of the tooth? (rather than the back of the cheek, for example). If so, it is HIGHLY unlikely that the nerve has been destabilized. For an injection like this, the needle does not come in contact beside the nerve. In fact, the medication has to be engrossed through a layer of bone protecting the nerve. (The bubble is actually formed if it isn't taken through the bone swift enough). While the anaesthetic is usually gone within minutes or seconds, it can sometimes take several hours. Even if this is not the case, it is still unlikely to be nerve damage. The symptoms basically don't sound right. It sounds more likely that the abscess is to blame. If you were my lenient, I would say that as long as it doesn't get any worse, or cause you any excessive aching, it is probably safe to leave for over the weekend. You could maybe try to complete your course of antibiotics, and see if it is still a problem later. If it is still a problem, or if it changes for the worse, go see your dentist. I can't stress enough however that I am single working off your description, and without seeing it I can't be sure. It doesn't sound similar to it is anything to worry about just in a minute, but if it's really stressing you out do speak to your dentist. Hope that helps, Stuart

Well, this doesn't sound to discouraging! The bubble may be caused by something completely different. Just call your dentist, and make an appointment to see him! It's simply been 14 hours, try waiting a day or two! =) *Hope this helps, & righteous luck!*

Sounds like the "bubble" is a result of the abscessed tooth. A bolus of local anesthetic will not persist for 13 hours; it is absorbed in minutes. You should be concerned. Visit your dentist and get treatment for the abscess.Related Questions...
