How can I whiten my teeth w/out spending too much money?

I have normal teeth but I want to whiten them. Are in that any good products (I'm leaning towards the Crest Dissolving White Strips; do those work well) that are beneath $45 and work quickly. Can you tell me how long it take to get results, and rate it 1-10 on how well it works? Also, any devout whitening toothpastes? I saw on a commercial of I think Crest or Colgate (I don't remember) and the girl rubbed her finger across her teeth and said "Now that's squeaky clean and I haven't even brushed yet", what is it call and how well does that work? I don't really want to use peroxide and baking soda but I now hold Crest Whitening w/baking soda and peroxide inside (I don't mind that) with tartar protection; does that work (I've be using it 3-4 days and I haven't seeing any results) , how well, and how long do I need to brush beside it? Thanks so much! :)

i would say the white strips...and crest next to baking soda.that would be my best guess. Try arm and hammar tooth paste. I noticed whiter teeth after the first tube be done. Its about $3.50 a tube.
