Removed Calculus from teeth...immediately what?
Okay, my crazy boyfriend went thru many years of not civilized for his teeth properly. He went to the dentist for the first time in 24 years a few weeks ago because of this white buildup on his teeth that be spreading all the way up his gums. We found out to be precise is only calcium buildup and that the dentist can scrape it past its sell-by date. We were told his gums would heal after that. So, one the crazy people we are, we bought our own scaler and 2 days ago I started working on his upper teeth to get it bad. It was really, really bad. The gums own been pushed up and now they are impressively sore and tender and red where I removed the build-up. What I want to know is how long does it take to alleviate something like this? Also, should he use mouthwash, salt hose down, or hydrogen peroxide and water to rinse his mouth? Should he be on an antibiotic?
Answers: He needs to enjoy his teeth professionally cleaned... the scaler you purchased and used was not sterile... you may have made his condition worse...I'm sure you did not remove the subgingival calculus...if the buildup is that doomed to failure, an ultrasonic scaler will be used by the dentist/hygienist...he may need antibiotics for a bacterial infection that he has...'don't try this at home' unless you own a license to 'clean' teeth.
OMG he needs to go to the Dentist to put together sure you didn't cause problems. It sounds horrible and I bet the dentist would have at least possible used a local anesthetic, and perscribed a pain med. I am a big fan of doing things myself but I make tracks the medical stuff to the doctors. Theres a reason why they go to college for years! Your boyfriend maybe swearing mathematical symbols at you during this procerss, but I distinctly do not think it is calculus.
My guess you mean plaque. Seek medical counsel, specially as it may go sceptic and your bf may then start losing his teeth.

Just relaxed both of you...nothing big have happened!! Just take it smooth....but that does not mean that I am giving you a permit to indulge surrounded by such misadventure. Let bygones be bygones..but please dont repeat that.
Please note that does not appear to be any need for any antibiotic.
Whatever injury have been caused by this misadventure, it will emphatically heal with the subsequent 2-3 days. During this period your BF can take any pain-killer as per his requirement. And that with the sole purpose, it is really needed.
Yes, Betadine gargles should be used for 3-4 days..for about 3-4 times a hours of daylight..the last should be at the bedtime. Warm saline gargles are also pretty soothing.
No spicy food-stuffs, no acidic foods etc.just bland diet for 2-3 days.
If the gums where on earth you worked are sore, just apply any oral analgesic gel/drops over that portion. That relieves the pain, albeit temporarily.
BUT PLEASE DO VISIT A DENTIST FOR A PROPER SYSTEMATIC THOROUGH PROFESSIONAL CLEANING.
Best of luck !!
