Will doing sit ups and crunches everyday for the rest of the summer administer me abs?

I'm a girl that is 16 and I want to get abs. I'm not fat im flat surrounded by the stomach and I want it to turn into muscle. I was going to do sit up and crunches everyday for the rest of the summer. Will that work?

It's usually very difficult for women to win really "defined" ab muscles. However ab exercises won't really hurt anything. Just don't be disappointed if you don't see impossible results.

I agree with the post above. Do some cardio, it really helps with burning chubby. Try shaking it up a bit with your exercise programme as well. I suggest you do interval training with your cardio contrivance (or going outside for a run) Sit ups do help as do crunches, but its important that you change the style of sit up every couple of days. You already HAVE abs. Everyone does. :) The problem is, most population have a layer of fat covering them up. Since you CANT tone hefty, doing crunches (no sit ups please) will tone the muscle... but the fat layer still remains. Double edges sword too. Cardio workouts burn energy, and when this reach a certain level, the body looks for fat deposits subsequent. Fat deposits are stored from the midsection out. And are 'burned' in the reverse direction. Midsection last. So, the answer is NO. You will build muscles, but unless you add surrounded by a heart-pumping cardio (running perhaps) workout daily, the fat will remain.
