Why am I still overweight?

I am a 20 yr old hispanic lady, and I want to know why I am still overweight? I am 5f 8in, and I weigh 265lbs, and I don't know why still. I ride my bike to work everyday for the last 3mnths which is a mile and a partially, I've always walked around alot, I got a dog and he go for walks 5 times a day. I eat hugely healthy alot of fruits and vegies, I prepare my own meals so I know what goes into my food. I haven't eat fast food since July of last year, I don't eat red meat, I hold small healthy snacks throughout the day, and I still don't know why I haven't lost any weight. I've litterally lost 5lbs, since concluding year. Ok I should add that I don't have insurance so I can't afford to see a Dr. I am just tired of walking down the street and someone yell out "WIDE LOAD COMING THROUGH"... I used to think I was pretty, but now when I look surrounded by the mirror all I see is an ugly FAT beast. I'm so tired of audible range "PEDAL FASTER, SHAMU"!

You poor thing! Ask your doctor to check your thyroid levels. You may have an lower than active thyroid.

Although it sounds you are eating very healthily and exercising regularly- the type of exercise you are doing is probably one of the reason you are not loosing as much weight as expected. Cardio exercise (stuff that gets your heart pumping) like running (not only just a walk or a jog) helps burn calories much faster. The diet you are following would probably be helped by 30mins of cardio a light of day. I suggest putting aside some time to go for a run- without your dog- will really help you carry on the track to loosing more weight. Also if you drink fruit juice or soft drink- this is a major contributor to achievement weight. Even sports drinks such as Gatorade or mineral water contain high amounts of sugar that are not perfect for you unless you are doing heavy cardio exercise. If this still does not seem to make a big difference after a few weeks I would suggest seeing a doctor to check if you own a thyroid problem. good luck!
