I'm stressed out give or take a few riding my bike on the street for an hour to work..?
I work a little over 10 miles from my house. It would take about an hour to procure to work. I am tired of the price of gas and my appearance so I want to start riding a bike to work, the only thing that is holding me pay for is im scared to ride it on the busy streets when everyone is driving to work!! There are bike lanes availiable sometimes, but not always. Should I wear a helmet to be extra mean? I would be riding 20 miles a day..3 days a week so 60 miles a week and 240 a month. Im hoping not driving my car on the freeway 12 days out of the month will benefit my financially and physically.
Best Answer: You should always be circumspect biking to work. Wear a helmet definitely, and also bike defensively. With the sun out, careless drivers, and bad visibility sometimes, accident are possible. Just bike in full view, and try different routes. Drive them out first, or bike it on a Saturday or Sunday to time yourself and see if there are safer routes you can pilfer. Sometimes side roads through neighborhoods will take a little longer, but will be safer. Good luck!
Answer:
I used to bike 7 miles one way to work for 5 mos. Definitely wear a helmet. Just be aware of your surroundings. If in that is no bike lane you could use the sidewalk. My experience go with the flow of the traffic. Drivers coming out of their driveways only look on the traffic flow. Just follow the traffic signs other. And it will definitely help you financially and you physically. I lost 20lbs in 1 month for biking 14 miles a year for 5 days a week. Hope it helps

i ride on busy streets and the only traffic that i worry something like is from the people merging from side streets. wearing a helmet is up to you. if you fall and hit your head you will emphatically wish you did. (i have a helmet but don't wear it) i wouldn't say i'm upset but i'm definitely cautious. i don't take it for granted that anyone see me or that they will give me the right of way even when they should. also, i will give a relationship to a bike video. these are bike messengers racing thru traffic. what they do is not safe riding but you can still pick up some tips (on what to do and not to do) that will make you a better rider. adjectives the lucas brunelle videos are fun to watch. riding a bike is fun. the danger make you more aware.Related Questions...
