Best Answer: Yes, alcohol greatly effects your cardio. I was a boxer in college and like several collegiate sports sobriety was mandatory during the season. After about 2 months of no drinking and typical training, my body performed much better. I love to drink beside friends and all, but it is poison. Your liver continuously is working to recover and remove it from your body. If you are not drinking, that is smaller amount energy wasted. But.. unless you are trying to be a world champ, I would just recommend staying sober 3-4 days formerly a competition and you'll be fine.
Answer:
Alcohol affects EVERYTHING. If you are serious something like muay thai or any physical activities, you need to understand that alcohol is a depression and NOT a stimulant. You are slowing everything from muscle relexes to mental response. You may reflect you are speeding up or that it is easier to do certain things, but those are all illusions brought on by the effect of alcohol on the brain cell. If you are in a fight, do you really want to be slow? Alcohol also puts tremendous strain on the heart because that heart you may have notice is pumping fast and furiously to flush the alcohol from the bloodstream. This is because alcohol is a poison and whenever you drink it, the body wants to get rid of it as speedily as possible. It is very common for alcoholics to die from heart attacks when they over exert themselves physically.
