How much could i bench press??
im a 15 year old male, 177cm 64 kg. i own a slim, and toned build. i dont do much exercise, but im probably about average strength. what is a likley amount i could benchpress?? my bro tells me i'll probably just be able to do 70 kg :S is that right?? because it sounds kinda low to me, especially considering he can bench 125 kg... not that i think im stronger(not even close) but still , thats a pretty big differance. so how much do YOU guys have an idea that ill bench??
Answers: If you've never worked out before I infer 70kg is probably even a bit high. Not that I'm downplaying your strength or anything, but when i started lifting around your age--and I was just about your size--i could only do about 135lbs (about 61kg). If your body isn't trained it newly isn't used to the motion and acute, concentrated effort. You should jump up efficiently though with just a bit weight training so go for it!
First, you can not compare yourself next to your brother. That would be a crucial mistake. Take it from someone who has been working out for 7 years presently; it takes a lot of complex work and discipline to build muscle and strength. You are probably younger and smaller than your brother, which makes a big difference. At your age and weight, explicitly not that bad. Continue to work hard and incorporate further protein into your diet. Tuna fish and protein shakes are my weapons of choice!!
You have to do the best that YOU can do, that it! Eat alot of proteing and at a snail`s pace add 5 or 10 pounds over the upcoming weeks and you will start to gradually discern the difference in size and strength. EZ
I think you'd struggle to do 70 Kg to start past its sell-by date with. I'm 27 and have be doing weights for a while, and currently I do 120 Kg. Thats at 12 reps though, not 5 reps. The guy above who mentioned doing 5 reps to bulk up. That's fine if you're a mid 20s rugby player, but at your age you'd be best off doing 3 sets of 12 reps, until you've built up a bit more muscle and strength. Doing too much too early will only cause damage. If you bench your body mass more than 5 reps, that is good.
I counterweight 70kg i can bench 70kg comfotably 5 to 10 reps, yes i have benched more but you put more strain on everything.
Remember if you want bulk bench alot kg with few reps, if you want definition bench more reps smaller number kg.
All depends what you want
if you're untrained then you probably wont be able to lift up your own bodyweight... but it all depends on how you increase.
whats more interesting is how much you can squat( to grass no partials) and deadlift!
More then I can that's for sure. Cr(a)p why am I so petite, I want to be capable of kick some butt. ATLEAST 165 or up, lol just do it and find out
