WTF is up near my drought of will, command, and motivation?
I'll be totally motivated, totally ready for my diet plan. Then someone in my house bake cookies, and I eat like 8 of them. I do this near whatever they bake (brownies, cookies, whatever) and if they buy icecream or something. It's close to I lose all my self-control and motivation. I try to picture the desserts next to worms on it and I even remind myself that I will feel guilty and bloated after eating such things, but it doesn't lend a hand. I still gorge myself. I think it might hold something to do with being raise in a health-nut family where on earth getting dessert was really rare- thus, making dessert seem incredibly special, so whenever I get it, I would have too much of a serving because we didn't get it as habitually. How can I change these unhealthy intake habits and regain my will, self-control and motivation? Thx. ;-)
Answers: First, you should distribute yourself permission to have these things. Don't remind yourself of how awful you'll touch later! Instead, enjoy it! Eat these foods (and adjectives foods) slowly, and enjoy what you're eating. Don't bring in it taboo. If you really savor it, you'll probably find that you won't eat too much of it. If you give yourself go-ahead to have whatever it is (like formerly you encounter it), then you'll probably crave it less and it won't come across so tempting.
You should also talk to the culture in your house who are bringing these foods in. Maybe ask them to respect the certainty that you're trying to change your diet and not bake cookies surrounded by the house while you're home. Or find a way to portion-control it--in other words, make sure in that just isn't enough around for you to hold a lot of it.
Self control and will power has it's limitations. Mortal limitations explicitly. A suggestion is to announce your ambition to those around you so these delights don't come up and distract your diet. People around you will encourage your action instead of undermining it. Set an initial time line (say one month resolution) and work up more - you will be able to count your energy and work up your confidence and will power then.
One thing I find is nuts is a through diet killer. I took on like 5 lbs and an inch to the waist surrounded by two weeks from enjoying a healthy serving going on for every other day as a snack. That may sound small but I hold a small stature to begin with and I can discern the difference. It is a shame nuts contains so many healthy attributes.
