Why are the sides of my snout red?
It's normal for everyone but I'm curious, why, what causes this and how can I prevent/get rid of this?
Best Answer: If its chronic its either Rosacea or Seborrheic Dermatitis or possibly both. If it is simply on the sides and ridges of your nose, it is probably just Seborhheic Dermatits. Seborhheic Dermatitis only usually occur in areas of the skin that are sebum rich and the ridges of your nose are one of them. In more complicated cases, your face may even switch on to flake. Now here are the treatments, however, please read carefully, because if you do have Rosacea too, it can complicate things. Seborhheic Dermatitis cause is not fairly known, however, scientists no that it has something to do with the fugus call Malassezia furfur. The problem scientists have is that even people with in shape skin have this fungus on their skin. Nevertheless, antifungals are generally the best treatments. The efficacy of many of the over the counter antifungals is unknown for this condition, so you probably involve to see a doctor for a prescription to one that works. Also, you need to keep this area free from grease. Using extra moisturizers will not be effective and may even make the problem worse, since Also, you can put hydrocortisone 1% on your face. This will assist reduce the swelling. Now please do not use more than you need, because hydrocortisone thins the skin on the face and long-term use will result within steroid induced Rosacea. Also, spending some extra time in the sunlight may help as well. It appears that the UV oil lamp inhibits the fungus' ability to reproduce, thus reducing its numbers and inflamation. Now with that said, because it is only the sides of the muzzle, you probably do not have Rosacea, however, the method of treatment would be a little bit different if you do. I am actually a living testament, since I have both Rosacea and Seborrheic Dermatitis with the Seborrheic Dermatitis. The frustrating this be that I could not effectively treat the Seborrheic Dermatitis with aggrivating my Rosacea. What's great now, is that I have a drug that does both.
