non productive cough?
A week ago I got a extremely difficult non productive cough. When I mean difficult, I end up dry heaving at the wrap up of coughing 5 - 10 times. This would happen every 20 minutes.
So I saw the doctor that morning and she said it was bronchitis and prescribed ammoxicilin and some other potassium. She said I would be fine by Monday.
The opposite happen it got worse. I saw the doctor again he prescribed a couple other medications and I'll be ready by Thursday to return to work.
The same item happened and now its this Monday I'll be ready.
The query is I only have a severe non productive cough, no fever, sore throat or anything. I'm stumped as to what I could be diagnosed beside?
Please help!

Best Answer: Are you on any other medication? I know some heart medications have a dry cough as a side effect. It could be asthma. Asthma can present as a cough. Have you ever had allergies or asthma? What else have changed in your life? Move to a new house/apt? New opening? New pets?
