Is it possible to suddenly develop a food allergy?

I'm a college student--which means that popcorn is basically a food group in my diet lol. So it's undisruptive to say I eat a lot of it. Usually it's the microwave caring, but I'm at home now and we've got an air popper here. So we bought popcorn kernel, butter, and salt, and made some air-popped popcorn. The past two times I've eaten it I have a mild allergic reaction. Throat swelled up/burned, chest tightened, I was wheezing, OTC allergy meds cleared it right up. The first time I didn't realize it was the popcorn, but ultimate night I was sure. This is just silly, though...unless the air-popped corn is somehow chemically different than the microwavable range? Is that possible? Any thoughts as to why/how this happened? Leeander, At first, I thought so too. But that same butter is used in most things my mom cooks at home. I haven't had a counterattack to any of those.
Best Answer: It's not unknown to become sensitive (allergic or intolerant) to something you eat a lot of. You probably had that inclination and would never have realized it if you hadn't eaten so much of it. ∠°)

Under what conditions does a lenient want to...

I didn't deem it was possible, but I just found out it is. I just graduate from college and have never been allergic to anything other than the skin on apples (it would net my lips and tongue swell when i ate them) and just last week i ate spaghetti near sausage in it and woke up covered in hives the next daytime. The hives lasted 4 days and I also had a very sore, red throat and pains within my stomach. I've eaten spaghetti plenty of times without anything happening, but I be told your body changes every 7 years and you can in fact become without rhyme or reason allergic to something. Same thing also happened to my aunt .. ate shellfish all her life span and one day when she was 27 and out to eat, she have a very bad allergic reaction to shellfish. So, unlikely as it may give the impression of being, it's not impossible.

I get a sunburn two months ago and...

Khrysty, if anything, I would think that the microwave variety would be more allergenic! Palm kernel oils, etc used to oblige that variety pop. Wonder if you had a reaction to the melt butter and not the corn?

Yes, I went to collage and devloped nut allergies. Had duplicate thing as you, however one night was one too oodles.I reached my limit of eating it, and my throat swelled up. Ganglion cyst removal... Painful?!?

There is a chemical surrounded by the microwave popcorn that gives it a butter taste you may be reacting to that...it have happened a lot here. yes you can suddenly get a food allergy beside a food you have eaten All your life but i would check the food label we were not meant to ingest chemicals..sometimes your body is just recounting you this.
