Accutane? long occupancy? try-out for?
hi, im an 18 year old guy with a little lower than 3 months before i go to college. i have have acne since about 8th grade but it isnt extremely terribly but doomed to failure enough for my dermatologist to recommend me to get accutane (which i want considering everything else has never worked)
-my problem is i hold very oily and "upset?" skin.extremely red, bumby, some scaring, ect.
my interview is... i hear there is a "test?" to get accutane because it isnt allowed for everyone. in good health considering ima guy, with some scarring, and my mother still gets acne (53 y.o.) and it seems approaching its not gona go away for a while...what are my chances? are they good? because if i cant capture it...i really wouldnt know what to do/ im extremely self conscious and have previously skipped school b/c of it.
then my end question, what will accutane do long term? will my face other be dry? considering i have less subatous glands...or shrunken...what will that do later?

Best Answer: I took Accutane about 3 years ago. I had acne adjectives through high school and my skin became immune to every medication the dermatologist would put me on. My acne also started to attain progressively worse, so I finally decided to do a 5 1/2 month regimen of Accutane and I had great results with it. I notice my skin starting to clear up about 1 month into a taking it. Also, after I was finished, my skin was completely cleared up. Even my scar went away. The side effects of the medication weren't very pleasant, but they were surely worth the termination result for me. I haven't had a breakout in 3 years. While I was on Accutane, I have incredibly dry skin, mainly on my face. My lips be also extremely dry and would often crack if I didn't continuously moisturize with chapstick or vaseline. I have thoroughly thick hair naturally, but I notice that my hair became thinner and would occasionally fall out during the time I be taking Accutane. I was also more sensitive to heat and I had to put together sure that I stayed out of the sun. Sometimes if I was in the sun too long, I would attain nose bleeds because the inside of my nose was dry as economically. Other than incredibly dry spots, I can't think of any other side effects I had with the tablets. Having dry skin for 5 1/2 months was sort of bothersome, but in the end it be worth having to put up with it. You mentioned taking a "test" to see if you could take Accutane. The just test I can think of is the monthly blood labs that you have to own drawn in order to keep your level under control. Lipid levels and other things can raise slightly when you filch Accutane, so they have to make sure that your labs are clear each month earlier giving you another dose of medication. Usually most people who take the medication have fine lab results, so don't verbs about it. It's a necessary thing though, because here are certain things that your dermatologist needs to monitor closely while you're on the medication. From what I've read about you, you give the impression of being like the perfect candidate for Accutane. Just pay attention. If you don't have a good insurance plan, Accutane is really expensive. However, I feel it is totally worth the money. Just brand sure that if you start taking it that you take good care of yourself. Eat right, drink tons of sea, keep your skin moisturized, and most importantly, don't use any facial or skin cleansers with alcohols or medications within them. My dermatologist told me that they could counteract the effects of the medication and cause it to not be as effective. A good mild cleanser to use is Cetaphil. I still use it to this afternoon in fact. And don't worry, your frontage isn't always going to be dry, especially if you use good moisturizing techniques.
