i hold coccyx problems( tail bone) and the doctor said he requirements to remove it ... is it natural?
Best Answer: I broke mine in June of 07. It was broken to the point it was going straight into my body and nearby was nothing anyone could do about it. They kept putting me on strain meds and told me sit on a donut pillow. Anyway I finally ended up going to an orthopedic surgeon, They tried cortizone injections and that didnt work and they said the only other option is removal of the coccyx. Seeing as how I have been in so much pain near it, (not being able to sit for more than a few minutes at a time, hurt when I walked and hurt when I laid on my back) I be up for anything they had to offer. The other thing be it started to affect the nerves in my legs. I startes having shooting pains from the coccyx pushing on nerves. I chose to have the removal contained by January of 08. It was a pretty painful procedure, but pretty quick rescue, Id say I was sitting pretty good by the second week post op. It is presently a year and a half later and I do still have some distress, but it is nothing like before the surgery. Hope this help, if you have any other questions about it fell free to email me!!

If you have chronic affliction caused by your tail bone, there usually isn't much that can be done to permanently stop the anguish other than removing the tail bone. I have seen reference to procedures to stabilize the coccyx as an alternative to removal, but this doesn't seem to be a common approach. The most important consideration is making really sure that it is the coccyx that is causing the problem. There are a variety of problems within this area that can all cause almost indistinguishable symptoms as coccyx problems, so removing the coccyx won't help if it isn't actually causing the problem. Make sure you doc isn't making an cultured guess that it's the coccyx - if there is any question, ask if there are any diagnostic test to verify the diagnosis. A second opinion would probably be worthwhile. The procedure has more risks than common orthopedic procedures such as inserting pins or arthroscopic knees surgery. There's a lot of muscles attached to the coccyx or right next to it, and some of the ligaments that hold the anal sphincter in place also attach to this nouns. There's no guarantee that all of those muscles and ligaments will work the same after surgery - some change is promising if the entire coccyx is removed; less likely if only element is removed.
