Does my mom enjoy food poisoning?
Early we ate at a sub sandwich restaurant called 'Which Which'. We have never been in attendance before and decided to try it. Well, my mom got some chicken italian..and I get a vegetarian sub (because I am vegetarian :D).
My mom kept talking roughly speaking how hungry she was..but after she finished her sub she said she felt absolutely stuffed. And consequently 5-10 minutes later she said she felt sort of funny. Well now it have been almost an hour and she says she feels ill. Do you think she has food poisoning? How long does it take for the symptoms to show up? Thanks!
Best Answer: People repeatedly confuse "food poisoning" with norovirus ("tummy flu"). This is often because the first symptom of a norovirus to show up is that sort of "ugh" opinion after having eaten. By the time a person get to this point, the virus has been in their body for a couple days, multiplying and gearing up to clear the person sick. But the illness was not triggered by the food itself. If it *was* cause by food, it would be food that was consumed 24-48 hours before, most likely prepared by someone who be recovering from a bout with a norovirus and not properly washing their hands. True food poisoning happen about 12ish hours after eating the bad food. Vomiting and diarrhea will be occurring suddenly and at equal time. It is constant and uncontrollable. And it lasts for days. Once you have see or experienced food poisoning, you will never think to compare it with a regular bout of "tummy yuck", ever again. I'm not saying this to form light of your mom's discomfort. Hopefully you will feel better knowing that most likely, your mom will be idea better in 24 hours. And hopefully you won't get it, too! Good luck!

WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN THE DOCTOR JUST...
I've have food poisening numerous times. Most of the time you throw up within a couple hours because your body is trying to get rid of the poisen. However, I've thrown up about 5-6 hours next. Regardless, if she feels sick and throws up, she should only drink broth for the first day or so after. Then she should just eat saltine crackers and broth for a few days.
