Have any of you used or know someone who have used Accutane for acne?
My granddaughter is about to start it. Does it work? Did you have side effects?
She has VERY impossible "bacterial" acne. The dermatologist she has been seeing for two years has tried a ton of other methods that hold not helped. She is only 14 but he wants to try this. She will enjoy to go on birth control. There is a contract they have to sign. There is a big thick book they hold to read. She will be VERY closely monitored, have blood work done, blood pressure checked, like every two weeks. She already has scarring and the doc requests to minmize her chances of getting more. I sure hope it works! That is what I want to hear cuz I am afraid about it and so is her Mom and her.

Alissa, she has be on antibiotocs off and on for almost a year and has tried numerous scrubs, creams and lotions...no be in motion. I think the Doc thought this was a more agressive approach to her problem.
Best Answer: I'm 18 now and i stopped my accutane treatment around 3 months ago. I had pretty stubborn acne and if you really want to get rid of your acne, then accutane is the best choice. I still hold some acne now, but it helped so much and got rid of profusely of it, for a lot of ppl it will completely get rid of all their acne. I wouldn't verbs at all about side affects and whatnot. most of the side affects get hyped up on the internet and aren't really that big of a threat. As long as you dont return with pregnant while you are on the medicine and for a short period after your done taking it, you will be fine, there really isnt a risk of problems if you carry pregnant later in life. Also, if you start taking it, seize ready to get pregnancy tests and blood test done every month. im a guy and i had to get blood tests every month and im pretty confident that if your a girl you have to do more things because of the pregnancy risks. However, while i have taken the medicine and know a great deal about it, you should absolutely talk to your dermatologist previously making your decision and ask any questions that you may have, they will know how to tell you exactly the kinds of things that will happen and what you will inevitability to do while on the medicine, plus talk to you about the side affects that are possible. I'll transmit you right now that you are pretty much guaranteed to have bad outbreaks for a couple months when you first start taking it, and really dry skin. in that are some other side affects that are possible, but not that bad and if they happen at all, stop when you carry the medicine out of your system. i hope i answered some of your questions.

He also has emotional problems very soon, and they believe it was as a result of the chemicals in Accutane. rial acne should be treated with antibiotics, not Accutane...
