can a pregnant woman capture shingles from someone else?
my mum is 6months pregnant and my nan has just me told she has shingles can they be contained by the same room together or anything without my mum getting shingles ? and if she can would it harm the infant ?
Best Answer: You can only catch chickenpox from someone who had shingles if you own never had chickenpox yourself. Shingles is a mutated version of herpes virus that causes chickenpox. So individual someone who had never had chicken pox can catch chickenpox from someone who have shingles. eg. I had chickenpox when i was a child. I can no longer catch it again, it can simply come back as shingles later in time if the virus mutates. cannot catch shingles of someone else. eg. a friend of mine never caught chickenpox so she does not carry that herpes virus so if she is exposed she will so new symptoms.
