Does anyone else experience problems near their thyroid meds?
I have an under live thyroid and am on thyroxine and while it has given me more energy, I'm notice some serious problems occurring over the last 12 months.
My throat is constantly tight and my breathing is like that of a 40 a morning smoker! (I don't smoke) I suffer panic attacks, palpitations and chest pains. My dosage has be upped and downed and I'm now on 150mcg a day and my doc say this has brought me up to the required levels. Also one doc think I need anti-depressants and another said I need tranquilisers.I enjoy to admit that my moods are pretty eratic too. This is all so nuts as beforehand I was diagnosed you'd be lucky to see me in the surgery once a year! if that...
I suppose I'm in recent times wondering if there is anyone else out there next to the same concerns.

Answers: Levothyroxine, a thyroid hormone, is used to treat hypothyroidism, a condition where the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone. Your symptoms may not be related to your thyroid, as the symptoms you mention would be from a hyperactive thyroid not lower than. You did not mention if you were on synthroid, levothyroixine, a generic, armour, etc. You may be sensitive to the one your on. I have my thyroid removed due to cancer 9 years ago and I am on 200mg a day and I have to own my levels checked regularly. thankfully for me and my family circle now that my levels own now evened out everything is back to everyday.
wow!150 mcg is high for just an underactive thyroid,not full-blown hypothyroidism.im underactive and bring a mere 50 mcg to control it,which it does very well.everyones different obviously,but the symptoms u describe are typical of too high thyroid meds.u need a more competant and knowledgable endocrinologist.i really believe as both a merciful and former nurse,the dosage may be too high-especially because of the heart palpitations-a classic symptom of too elevated dosage!good luck! yes my uncle & grandma
I have have good luck with my medication: Synthroid (T4) & Cytomel (T3). My MD wasn't sure I could convert the Synthroid to T3...that helped a lot. I be on 150mcg at one time...now I'm then go to 100mcg>>88mcg & now 75mcg.
I take 10 mcg of Cytomel 2X/day.
Make sure when the MD take your thyroid levels you get him to steal ALL of them, not just the TSH. You also need Free T4; Free T3; Calculated T4; & Calculated T3 taken.
As inhabitants have said, your symptoms sound more approaching hyperthyroid...have you lost weight too?
I also suggest you attain your heart checked out if it hasn't already been.
Depression & anxiety often usher underactive thyroid so you might try an antidepressant that also helps with anxiety, close to Lexapro, Wellbutrin, Zoloft, Cymbalta. Go to a psychiatrist to get these meds prescribed.
