Does anyone own any experience of meningitis?
I've read on the net about symptoms, but I want to hear it from someone who's 'been there'.
Are the symptoms on/off - or is it a continuous stream of pain/upset etc?
Answers: See your Doctor, and prompt. You can have viral menigitis, or bacterial meningitis, and it can be mild or severe. Either way, it cause inflamation in the stuff which protects your brain from rubbing or banging against the inside of your skull.
When I have it, I had a thumping headache which was other present, but sometimes just a dull, nauseating ache, and sometimes so tender I was moaning without realising it.
When I lay flat within bed, I could barely raise my legs, and my spine ache.
The doctor initially thought it was flu, but antibiotics did no good, and my heat began to rise. Eventually, I was rushed to a restlessness hospital in the middle of the night, delirious, roasting, sweating, and my principal feeling as if it was around to boil over.
Mine was viral meningitis, which is why it didn't respond to anti-biotics, but you really should do the test near a glass they tell you on the lattice, and see your GP, making sure you tell im/her that you suspect meningitis.
The guy who says it's a "adjectives cold" is mistaken. I nearly died, and many have!
I have meningitis last summer about this time! It started out beside severe muscle aches that did not go away. I in actual fact thought that I needed to go and see a chiropractor. Then it turned into severe flu like symptoms. My frenzy was never really high close to 100 to 101. I stayed dopped up on IBUprofen and tyleno flu and cold I think I almost od'd on the stuff. I went to the doctor and asked them if they thought it be meningitis they told me I had a kidney infection omg I left within crying because I had such a headache and body aches they thought that I considered necessary pain meds. Im a RN and I kind of know what was wrong buy they didnt want to listen. Anyways the symptoms got worse over the subsequent 4 days all over aches, disorientation, neck got stiff, couldnt totter, extremly light sensitive, vommiting if I came into contact beside light or sounds it was outrageous. My family was close to just go to bed and sleep it sour lol. After 2 weeks I went to the hospital told them what I had they did a spinal stroke my csf showed high white cells I be hospitalized with a PCA (Patient controlled pain pump) and IV antibiotics for 3 days. Hope this help I am sorry that I was a little long winded. My friend have just recovered from viral meningitis - it's the second time she's had it.

She had headache, vomiting, dislike of bright lights and stiff collar. She knew what it was straight away and get to the hospital quickly. She felt alarming for a few days, then just tired and wash out for 3 weeks or so.
