How long do you consider it will hold to find a cure for type 1 diabetes?

Answers: I have a tendancy to agree near the others that they already have a cure, but just aren't feeling like to release it to the public because of the $$$$ they make off of us who can not survive minus our insulin and our pills to keep us running. However, the islet cells they enjoy transplanted are inspiring and even better the ones that they can take from our own bodies and "reprogram" them to make insulin! The certainty that we know this is hopefull and I think its possible in the subsequent 15-20 years or less that we'll either hold a cure or atleast this disease will be much more manageable as well as the cures and treatments of its callous side effects. Hang in there your not alone! : )

Wayne Hawthorne, from the national pancreas and islet transplant section at Westmead Hospital, said the experimental procedure might soon be a real option for everyone beside type 1 diabetes, including children.
Scientists transplanted the insulin-producing islet cells from a donor pancreas into the patients' livers, where they begin to produce insulin.

You should live so long. The problem we have in this country is that research is done by drug companies. Their priority is to produce money, not necessarily to relieve suffering. They would rather develop a pill you take for the rest of your existence, they make a lot more money that route. They make a lot in recent times on insulin!

Never. It is not cost decisive to cure diseases such as diabetes. They love to sell test strips and insulin. Sorry to be so cynical. To get money for NASA they said they would find a cure for diabetes . And that was 40 yrs. ago. Not within our lifetimes...it's been "right around the corner" for at tiniest as long as I've had it, and that's been 24 years. Not to be a pessimist, but they don't even know the basis of it yet, let alone a cure. Sorry give or take a few the military, that was once my plan, too!
Nobody's hiding a cure. With life comes suffering and challenge. I firmly believe we'll have it in our lifetime. In certainty, I'll go as far as to say I surmise we're on the cusp.
