Lump contained by breast - obligation proposal!?
4 weeks ago I noticed a hard pea size lump within my left breast near the armpit. I get it 2 days before my period and caught it while sleeping on a bench for 1 week at the hospital with my mom. My mom was contained by the hospital because of breast cancer.
I went to doctor and he squeezed it, which produced severe pain within my breast for days. Still tender. I did an ultrasound and mammogram (i am 27 yr olf Female) and both tests showed nothing. The technician said that its probably tissue.
I go back to another doctor at the clinic, and he feels a rubbery gland/mass within my breast near the area. The pea size lump i feel is half smaller now, but presently a rubbery gland/mass in the same nouns is there. He isnt worried, and said that we will just follow up near monthly breast examinations.
My mom died of breast cancer two weeks ago. I have been underneath severe stress, so im wondering if there is more i need to do beside these lumps/ swollen glands. I keep touching it, which probably doesnt help.
Answers: I have something very similar when I was 28 (now 31). Mine turned out to be a mass/ tumor but it wasn't cancer. They did surgery to remove it but took out the wrong ducts. So, I still enjoy it. I went back for a nozzle biopsy (didn't want that same doctor operating on me again) and everything came back fine. I be told I have fibrocystic breast disease. Get a second opinion and/or a biopsy done if it will oblige ease your mind... especially if your mom had breast cancer.
