Postrate cancer press: My brother who is within remission beside this?
had his six monthly blood test and the reading be 13 is this okay or ought he to be worried. He is 73 recently widowed and does not have anyone to recommend him hence my question. He does not seem to be asking ther ight question of his consultant and is worred that his cancer has returned. He bides in Oxford and I bide within Scotand so it is difficult for me to help other than ask question. I've looked on the internet but cannot find the answer to my question: Is a reading of 13 something to be concerned about within respect to prostrate cancer.
Answers: By a reading of 13 I take it you mean PSA?? I work as a technician on a urology ward within a hospital and a PSA reading of 13 is high and indicates that there is still cancer present.
In adjectives honesty, I do think he will require Radiotherapy.
I presume you mean the PSA reading.13 is fairly high...it should be about 5...but below 10 is OK above that can be a sign of problems although it vary from man to man...you may find this link helpful...

I have have prostate cancer. There is a website called Proton Bob that gives lots of information just about prostate cancer and Proton Radiation Treatments... If you go there be sure and read the merciful testimonials about proton radiation. Also there is a tentative book just out by Robert J Marckini a prostate cancer survivor.. The book is great it tells adjectives about prostate cancer and then describes adjectives of the various treatments available and tells the pros and cons or side effects of adjectives the various treatments.. The book can be purchased at the Proton Bob website and most book stores in this country, dont know almost England. However back to your question.. If your brothers PSA trial is 13 that is much too high./.. however my PSA is .13 thats point one three and in attendance is a big difference.. so if your brothers PSA is .13 its fine but if its 13 that isnt good.. T2b tumor, Gleason mark 7, or PSA > 10 are considered intermediate risk by most experts.
