Answers: Tested positve for the "AIDS virus" about 1983? Not sure that's accurate.
The first screening HIV tests weren't FDA approved until 1985. These incredibly early tests give a fairly high false positive rates by today's standards.

I'd be checking exactly what test[s] be used, and wondering if there have be further tests to check what sounds like a totally early "diagnosis".
The majority of people who truly had HIV in 1983 (but not all) would own some immune system problems by now . You don't say if this 50 year outdated is having any treatment. A small proportion (probably only a few per cent) of untreated family can remain unaffected by HIV infection even after 25 years and may possibly never get sick from their HIV
In which defence, the life expectancy of a such a 50 year old would be one and the same as any other 50 year old - depending on other health problems they could probably expect to live another 30 years or so.
Not sure. Maybe you can ask this query on the std dating & social site called pozcupid .com. They are more professional.
