Sudden, intense pains on moved out side of chief?
As far back as I can remember ,every so often (perhaps once or twice a month) I have have a recurring series of pains on the left side of my head.
It basically comes out of nowhere and is a hugely intense pain and I can't do anything to stop it. It's pretty frightening, it feels almost electrical. The pain is particularly deep and I think it could be a nerve issue. It usually last about 10 seconds and is basically a series of sudden bolt-like pains that cover the vanished side of my head and it's excruciating. The main point of the pain is at the front of my ear, fairly near the top, just above the top of my cheekbone. But the pain reverberates when you come down to it left side and upon reflection i've noticed it also shoots down my d¨Ścolletage and onto my shoulder too.
It just comes out of nowhere and there's nothing I can do to stop it, which makes it pretty fear-provoking. The only thing i can do is to hit the side of my head firm to try and counter the deep, internal pain with some external discomfort, but it has little effect.
Like I said, I've always had it within my life but lately in particular i've be getting it more and more, and last night I got it while I be asleep and it woke me up, and it lasted for about 30seconds which was excruciating. I've notice I seem to get it most when I am about to drift stale to sleep, but I sometimes get it randomly in the daytime too.
Does anyone know what this could be? I'm unbelieving to go the docs because they usually just fob me off near paracetemol or something.

Best Answer: This sounds like trigeminal neuralgia to me. It can be controlled with carbamazepine, which is a type of anti-convulsant.
