Can a bone swell?...please relief me?
hey can a bone swell or does it only break if it gets a bad hit...and if it even swells does it creel the growth of the bone
Best Answer: The bone doesn't swell per se. If there is a break a callus of new bone growth forms around the fracture. It eventually smooths over time. If you suffer an impact or infection then unusual bone (woven bone) may be laid down which eventually turns into lamellar bone over time and increases the thickness of the bone. This is generally called periostitis which is an inflammation of the periosteum (outter vein of tissue over bones). Lots of infections can cause this as well. Bones can also "swell" from the inside from cysts, infections in the marror cavity, mixed diseases, tumors...etc.
