i'm an orthopedic surgeon.to understand what that means u need a advocate on disc anatomy :) ... simply, disc bulge means that the whole disc is bulging all around and this usually doesnt make happen harm and it's normal in the aging disc, protrusion routine that a certain weak point in the disc is bulging purely like a hernia...again this does not necessarily mean that it's the sole cause of ur symptoms...do u hold mainly backpain or leg pain? how old r u? and btw MRI is over sensitive to detect spinal column problems and 99% of disc bulges and protrusions do well with simple medical treatment and activity modification.
