TMJ sufferers: have your Jaw ever stayed open/locked for an extended term of time?
On thursday night, I yawned and although I did my damndest to close my jaw in time, my mouth got locked open for about three hours and I have to be rushed to the emergency room to have it unlocked. this is the 2nd time this has happened. more or less three years ago, it got locked and i had to go to the emergency room. have this happened to anyone else? my jaw locks and pops all the time, but I'm other able to close my mouth. my doctor told me the only surgery is breaking my jaw and realigning it. what enjoy others done to get their TMJ fixed?
Best Answer: Over the years mine just stopped, i use to have duplicate thing happen but no ER I just shifted my lower chin untill it un locked

well when i yawn, i feel some pain and a cracking thud on my left jaw, and when i get upset, i quality the muscles getting harder and hard for me to talk. i was never similar to that until 2007, the ugliest year in my life.Ever since, my problems stayed and i haven't been to any doctor. We should pray and ask God to assist.

I suffer from it, but luckily haven't had my jaw lock. My mom mentioned something about wearing a special mouth guard to bed? I haven't tried it though. If you have TMJ then surgery should be a last chance. I work at a medical research journal where we look at all tmj treatments and dental surgery have very poor long term success for tmj. There are plenty of non invasive treatments out nearby that have very positive user feedback and are a fraction of the cost (not to mention the recovery time).Related Questions...
