I have a bulging disc in lower back, tried epidural steroid shots...not much relief. Arthritis, & Degenerative disc disease. I am constantly in pain. My neck, lower hindmost, & shoulder the worst but arms legs etc too. I have been taking 5/500 vicodin for over 4 years. I am now Only up to 3 per afternoon. They are not as effective. My dr just keeps count more pills..I take flexeril, mobic, ambien, vicodin, & celexa for depression from pain. ...I am still in backache. I was in an accident within April so used extra, I was doing physical therapy. I called for my vicodin 3 days untimely, now she wants to send me put a bet on to pain clinic! I don't want to waste my time & my time & money..Is it crazy to think she should purely raise me to 4 a day, since it's been 4 years? Also, I work full time, & am a wife & mother...I am not lately sitting home all day taking pills.

Change doctors yes all they are achieving for you sounds like is addicting you to their painkillers. My friend have back problems and finally found a doc that prescribed her methadone, she hasn't had to go up for years and in truth has a better quality of life presently.

Try chiropractic care if you have not already done so - I herniated two discs in my lower stern, and was told that I would end up in a wheelchair by the time I be 40. Sometimes I would lose function in my lower legs, couldn't walk, lift my legs or drive. I finally go to chiropractic, I'm 51, and I work full time, ballroom dance, walk my dog, travel to other countries - do anything I want. I still hurt a bit, but I am not immobile. Proper nutrition and other methods can alleviate the arthritis pain - my mother have rheumatoid arthritis in her hands, shoulders and hips - she ended up have joint replacement surgery on 8 joints in her hand, but then never had pain within her hands again (you don't say whether it's rheumatoid or not). You should be looking for a way to return with OFF medication, not a way to get MORE medication. I still take a spasm pill now and then if I really strain my back - I'm not against painkillers when they are really needed - but they should NOT be chunk of your daily ritual.

Im sorry to hear that youre in so much pain and that your current doctor is not sufficiently expert to help you, you poor thing. I would talk to your docter and convey them you are still experiencing pain. Try what they perscribe and if that doesnt work, then i would tell them that you thank them for their application but you will have to switch docters. hope i helped

depends on the doc you presently have;; if it's your common phys, I would request referral to orthopedic, neurosurgeon, or rheumatologist;; any of these 3 can help you, doesn't mean surgery, doesn't mean you hold RA, but again, one of these 3 or ea may be able to help you;; pain mgmt single deals with drugs & shots (you've already stated your sick of going thru);; you need another form of treatment but you want to be open & question other treatment protocols for your own sake;; all of these diagnoses call for attention but you do know since you've been carrying on with this for 4 years & (a) least 2/3 diagnoses are chronic conditions that can merely get worse, you may need invasive treatment;; the "injecting of plastic" is not for you, the disc would have to be removed & nought would be done for your arthritis & DJD (same);; I believe the acupuncture would only be temporary but I'll admit I enjoy not done a full spectrum of research on this, & chiropractic care with DJD just doesn't mix unless you find a REALLY GOOD chiropractor, sometimes hard to find;; but I would go with 1of the 3 above & start from nearby... good luck, 4yrs is a long time to tol all of this!!
