Best Answer: i quit smoking march 23 2009 next to the help of the Nicotine transdermal patch. It is a 3 month process of wearing the patch but its worth it. One month you will have a 21 mg patch wich is like a pack of cigs a daytime. The next month you go down to 14 mg. And the last month you own 7 mg. You have dreams when you first start out and a lot of people tender up because of that. After about 3 wks the dreams will go away and your food will taste so much better and your sense of smell is amazing. Good Luck and endow with him lots of encouragement.

Answer: There's always the patch. Every treatment has its own set of side effects, I'm afraid. The patch can cause skin irritation, and obviously, it's just not the same as smoking. It's extremely important to own not only the physical side taken care of, but the psychological side. I know that nicoderm patches in reality include an information packet that helps you identify the triggers you have for smoking, and helps you digit out every part of your personal quitting plan. I stopped thru using patches. There is a leaflet inside Nicorette near a helpline. I received a bag of goodies including a CD. I found it difficult to know what to do with my hand, so I also used a nicotine replacement inhaler, which comes in a pack the same size as a ciggy packet, and is about matching size as a cigarette. You put it in your mouth and twiddle it, much the same as a fag, when you feel the stipulation. The instructions say you shouldn't use both together, so I didn't replace the inner cartridge a lot of the time. Remove adjectives ashtrays and smoking paraphernalia. Stop anyone smoking in the house - especially visitors. Explain to others that he is quitting. One whiff of someone else's smoke, even after a few weeks, starts the craving adjectives over again. The worst time is in the morning. Keep him busy. Let him go for a walk or do something physical. Kick the garage doors if call for be. Cut right down on tea and coffee and alcohol for a while. Eat plenty of fruit. Put a monthly calendar in a conspicuous place and let him mark sour each day with a big 'dobber'. Praise him day by day like you would a kid - it is a massive step he is taking. Put a jar on the coffee table, then make him put the money he is good by not smoking into the jar where he can see it (I bought a microwave oven after the first week!) I smoked for about that long myself and found quitting to be one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life! I had appropriate luck with Zyban (also known as Wellbutrin). It doesn't work immediately, so you own to take it for a few weeks before you try to quit, but it definitely help.
