Vasectomy, birth control or other method?
My husband and I have talked and he scheduled a vasectomy...which is contained by about a month. We curently have 2 kids, 3 wks and 2 yrs old. As it stands we don't want anymore, don't have a feeling we could afford anymore kids. After thinking a little more after he made his appointment, we might want to have another kid, POSSIBLY, in MAYBE 6-8 years...this is a BIG MAYBE! THe big request for information is should he NOT do the vasectomy because of a maybe or should he do it to prevent an "oops" (this is what he and 'we' are thinking about right now) I personally hve tried pills and can't preserve up...Nuva ring makes me bleed continuously and so does the shot. Insurance doesn't cover the 5 yr inplant of mirena and my doctor will charge $1000 for insertion and the inplant.it has medical risks of 1) embeding to be removed surgically 2) and possibly falling out (would have to foot again) thoughts please...

While most men hold trivial short-term pain, some men have pain that last a few months, and up to 15% of men still complain of testicular or other scrotal pain seven months after their vasectomy. (Leslie et al 2007) After one year, the incidence may decrease, but this has not be proven, and a study of two groups of men one year post-vasectomy and ten years post-vasectomy showed no difference in incidence. (Manikandan et al.) There are six post-vasectomy survey studies that document the incidence of persistent pain. Severe distress, affects on sexual function, or quality of life are reported in 2 to 6% of vasectomized men surrounded by these studies. Summaries are available below. 1) McMahon et al - 253 surveys sent, 172 responded, and 33% complained of chronic testicular pain. The time interval from vasectomy averaged 4 years and 5% of the men complained of pain during sex. One in sixty respondents regretted have the vasectomy due to chronic pain. 2) Choe/Kirkemo - 470 surveys sent, 182 responded, and 19% complained of pain. Honestly if you even THINK you MIGHT want more i wouldnt do it. Because you cant really go back after a vasectomy. I would only just try the pill again and even if you are taking it and missing a few use condoms. If he doesnt want to use condoms use the female condom plus spemacide. Dont get the vasectomy if your still contemplating another child. It would be sad if you looked-for another one and could have one. If you OR your husband are not 100% sure, do not have the vasectomy. This is meant to be a lifelong form of birth control to keep him from producing a pregnancy EVER again. If he has a vasectomy now and surrounded by six to eight years you both decide you want another child, he could potentially bank his semen (before the vasectomy) but then you would own to be able to afford the artificial insemination (expensive).
