Why are some folks against antidepressants?
Sometimes the cause of your problems in life are because you are depressed, why do some populace believe that taking medication is a way to avoid your real problems, in combination beside dealing with talking to a psychologist, what is wrong with taking them?
Best Answer: I be on anti-depressants when I was 15-17 to deal with an anxiety disorder and depression cause by childhood trauma. I've been going to college for 3 years as a double major- nursing and premed, and I know from my schooling and from my personal experiences with depression that medication is not the best way to treat depression. You are depressed because your brain physically is not communicating correctly. This can occur if some event in your life caused your brain to be in motion "into shock" so-to-speak. The best way to deal with depression is to NOT purloin anti-depressants. Vitamins and Minerals can actually combat your depression better than anti-depressants can. (If you don't believe me, ask a doctor how depression medication works... the truth is, they don't know if it works or how it works. It is much better to approach your depression in a way that science have proven the effects on the body.) For example, if you don't have enough potassium people become mawkish for no reason. I attached a vitamin information website. Also, depression can be caused from not getting enough endorphines surrounded by the brain... to fix that you need to exercise (or sex - though you probably will not be able to have sex on anti-depressants because they block your sex drive) - this supplies the brain near more oxygen and endorphines. Also, things like yoga and meditation can actually mess with your brain plenty to help combat your depression- they can be as strong as hypnotism at times. The last step to combat depression is to get counselling. Don't be embarassed more or less it - mentally healthy people talk to a psychologist to oblige with everyday life, and people who enjoy a mental imbalance AND have to cope with vivacity should definitely see a psychologist. Talking to someone can be cheap or even free provided by school or work. My point of this whole speel is - you are treating the symptoms of depression, but not the depression itself. If you want to grain like an empty shell, keep taking your medication or even up it - believe me, the crying will stop. You will want to cry but you will not know how to because your body will not let you. Good luck with whatever you desire to do!

Because it is. If we could find the root of the problem we wouldnt be depressed since we can directly fix whatever it may be thats causing this issue. However we cant, so we take meds which dull the side effects such as being depressed and anxious etc. People are against them for this reason. They arent cures, they dont want to take meds every daytime for the rest of their life, and it plain sucks. They'd rather find the root of the problem instead of covering it upPsychiatrist think I'm borderline depressed?
I was prescribed antidepressants (zoloft) and I be on them for about four months, but I decided to take myself past its sell-by date of them. I get better without the pills.IS it discouraging no to have a feeling...
Well some people don't want to take drug at all so that explains why they don't take antidepressants also. ssion can be caused by a specific event or just be because of brain chemistry and you may just be predisposed to enjoy it. While I think anti-anxiety/antidepressants can and do really help I also think individuals beside mental disorders NEED to seek therapy to learn HOW to operate with the disorders because sometimes the medication is not always enough.Need Help By A Doctor Or Physciatrist!?!?!?
Actually within is alot more to this than what you think. Some people who have frequent serious depression do have need of medication. However they are prescribing medications such as seroquel to kids as young as 14 for depression. It is healthy to be depressed every very soon and then and by giving these drugs to kids this young, you are aiding them in never truely dealing beside a problem therefore they spend the rest of their life on the medication. I do not object to them I nick them myself, I just think it's getting a little too adjectives to hand it out to people. Tramadic experiences in life span and I have had a few, can give you severe depression and those ethnic group need a little help but an average 14 year infirm who hasn't even experienced life yet or tragedy shouldn't be medicated.Twilight have made me depressed. Because i have have personal experience with antidepressants (SSRIs). Since taking them and consequently stopping them, i've got memory problems and other cognitive difficulties. (Google SSRIs and brain damage) They changed my brain in subtle ways but significant ample of a change that if I could roll back the hands of time I would never, ever thieve them again.how can i be well instead of depressed?
I think antidepressants get a bad rap because they're channel overprescribed. Most antidepressants aren't prescribed by a psychiatrist-- they're prescribed by a general practitioner. While a GP certainly has the authority to prescribe them, they don't necessarily hold the expertise to do so, at least not like a psychiatrist does. The mental health system surrounded by and of itself is flawed in many ways, though, and even some psychiatrists go the route of of late throwing medication at their patients without knowing the full story. Any kind of drug can be dangerous when prescribed to someone who doesn't really entail it, and many doctors use depression as a catch-all term for anyone who is having any amount of difficulty beside life. That being said, I don't think there's anything wrong beside taking antidepressants in addition to some kind of consult therapy. Depression, like most mental illnesses, has be linked to chemicals in the brain. Medication does not make problems walk away and very rarely can actually generate a person happy, they just relieve balance out the chemicals so problems and setbacks are easier to deal with. How can I obtain rid of the irritation...
I respectfully disagree near people who say that people who are depressed should lately get over it. While that is true for people who are purely momentarily depressed about some hard event in their lives, it is not fair for people who are clinically depressed. People who have had several symptoms of depression for more than 2 weeks are clinically depressed. Antidepressants are needed to procure the person past the chemical imbalance surrounded by their brain which causes this. They also have to have correct diet, and exercise, but most culture with clinical depression can not motivate themselves to take care of themselves. Obviously, dream therapy is part of the deal too, but without antidepressants a really depressed person can not get over it.Question concerning xanax 0.25 mg ?
They don't understand what antidepressants are for. They aren't to oblige you deal with tough situations, like a breakup or the departure of a loved one. They're to fix a chemical imbalance in the brain that can't be fixed through therapy.I enjoy depression and anxiety, but could i...
It is approaching how they feel about suicide. They think it is the flowing way. But is all the waiting and the having to switch medication because the ones you try don't work really easy? There is some serious stigma about mental disease in this country, you are considered unstable and somewhat inferior if you are found suffering from one of the many mental illnesses existing today. Its sad because heaps people, actually nearly all populace suffer from a mental illness at one point of their life, such as an anxiety disorder or depression. The horrible part is that society make these people ashamed and humiliated by their illness, and many inhabitants do not choose to divulge their suffering to others or seek treatment that would benefit themselves enormously. I personally am not dismayed to admit that I have 2 anxiety disorders, and I am debating upon which meds to take that will treat generalized anxiety disorder the best. A lot of associates also think anti-depressants will change them or make them different, and to some extent that is to say true, but all it really is doing is just balancing out your chemicals to product you less fatigued and dysphoric, how you act is how you are. You just don't own to be plagued any longer, thats it. Psychotherapy and meds is the best combo for all diseases I think, except maybe identity disorders but those are less common anywaysRelated Questions...
