Benzo (ie Xanax) Withdrawal?
I've been taking between 2 and 6mg of Xanax every night for like the final 4-6 weeks (since the end of finals). Should I be concerned about withdrawal? I hear talk about seizures and what not when going cold turkey...Any guidance?.please let me know what you think...
Best Answer: I would certainly chat with your doctor about it. DO NOT just stop cold turkey. You could enjoy no withdrawal or it could be hell. So either do a slow taper or if a Xanax taper is causing debt then switch to Valium (diazepam). Diazepam is the best drug for benzo tapering (it has a partly life of one day and 4-5 active metabolites that are also benzo's). But I have an idea that you will be OK. Just make sure you are monitored by a doctor.

I would taper bad slowly, there is a chance you could have debt symptoms and that is definitely not something you want, it is hell! You'd have shaking, stomach pains, possible seizure, etc. Trust me, I've done it! There is another med you can take that could also help its called colodine (sp) its a blood pressure med, that would clutch the edge off. Good luck.

Taper off of it slowly. As a Benzo it'll cause anxiety, fear and shaking with the possibility of a seizure if you just drop it cold turkey. Detox programs may or may not be available to you locally, but you should know how to find reliable information by calling your local emergency room and asking for information.
