How do i stop madness attacks short medication?
I've had panic attacks since i was 16. They come out of nowhere. I am now 31 and still have them. Also, when an incredibly stressful situation comes along, like someone going away me or dying, I crumble. Now if it's someone having a heart attack, I go right into CPR and react fine minus thinking. It's only when something personally effects me that I lose the ability to function usually.
Now, I've tried every kind of benzo there is, and they do help, but they are also incredibly addicting.
I tried oxycontin, and boy did it run away all my anxiety, but it ended up takingover my life, and I nearly lost everything trying to find off of it.
I've lost faith in adjectives anti-anxiety meds, SSRI's, and alcohol, as they make things worse in the long run.
I need a passageway to stop this once and for all. I exercise regularly, and it does help alot, but the moment I'm sitting home doing nothing, they start. I cant save moving all the time though. I need to sleep and relax just similar to everyone else. Problem is I just dont know how to relax. I don't think I ever learned how to, even when i be a kid.
I know this is a hard question, but any help, guidance, and most of all support is so greatly needed.
Best Answer: I'm in a similar situation. There are a few things that I have found that serve. It sounds like you've tried most of the drugs and not had a tremendous amount of luck with that. Exercise specifically helps, especially if it is cardiovascular. Another thing that I suspect has help me, but I can't be sure about is fish oil. I've been taking these Omega 3 Fish Oil pills I get at Walmart, and I have to say I think they are helping. Another entity that seems to help me is to simply get outside and do something that I soak up. It is pretty tough to actually find something that you really enjoy, but lately I've found that I enjoy gardening. I've get a small vegetable garden, and it is pretty pleasing to work on, and to watch the plants grow. You may also try listening to calming music, and of late try to sit and relax. I like some of "Enya" and I find that to be nice to relax to. I'm not sure what I think of the suggestion above of doing word repetition. I do this, but part of it is my extremist compulsive disorder, and for me it isn't always constructive. Though if used correctly it can be a meditative technique.

Hi, You just answered on of mine, so i hope this little trick might facilitate you. i normally get anxiety attacks driving. rush hour traffic on the beltway or the harbor tunnel really freak me out. since you excersize you have abs. i am a rider and enjoy a six pack too. what i do (when i;m sitting in the car) is exhale and tighten my lower abs and diaphram...similar to the contaction you feel when you do stomach crunches. when i breathe in i hang on to my stomach flat and tight, and repeat til the anxiety passes. i dont know why, but i swear it works...just enough for me capture through the attack and continue on... hope this helps a little.Please aid, Feeling more isolated and chance since...
