guidance in the region of delusional paranoia?
About two weeks ago my dad was sectioned due to paranoia (he's bipolar). He really believes, and has done for rather sometime, that there are people out there trying to wipe out him, me and pretty much everyone else in the family. Although he's been surrounded by the care of the hospital for two weeks he doesn't seem to be improving at adjectives and still has these beliefs.
I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience of this and what they could recommend we do as a family. Or if anyone knows of any really good websites that can proffer support and advice.
Also I'm concerned that the longer it goes on the harder it will be for him to recover from, is this the suitcase?
One last thing, he gets annoyed when population tell him that his beliefs are "wrong" so I generally try to avoid the subject or change it, what should I be doing? agree beside him? humour him? tell him he's wrong?
Apologies for all the questions but I live moderately far from him and haven't got the chance to speak with his doctors to want advice from them, Thanks in advance
EDIT: I newly re-read my question and haven't been clear in the first cog I don't think. My dad doesn't think that I or the family are going to spoil him, rather that we are all going to be harmed/killed. He also believes he is being spied on and followed, and for a spell before he was sectioned he be writing down number plates and taking photos. It came to a head when he beleived a car next to 5 lads were following him, he parked up outside the police station for about 3hours. The police went to see what be wrong with my dad and escorted him home. My dad has always be a bit of a tough bloke and fearless, which makes it all the more hearbreaking immediately knowing how very afraid for his and our lives he is.

Paranioa and delusions feel greatly real to the person experiencing them, and it doesnt matter what nation say to them, they wont believe them. One way to help your dad out, is to capture him to rationalise his delusions, are they possible, could it actually happen. Listen to his full belief, procure to know the whole story first and find out what is most terrifying for him. Whilst in hospital he will most predictable be medicated, it could be that his medication hasnt started to work yet. Keep in contact with his name nurse and communicate your concerns to them about your dad. They are there to listen to the family as ably as the patient. You can phone the hospital and speak to someone over the phone. You can also to go into his ward rounds that he will have once a week, if he give the permission for you to be there. He needs to know that you and your clan support him 100% which obviously you do but he may not see it through the delusions. However, what I have be told in cases like this is that it is most important that you and the rest of the house ensure that: once told "if they think they are Kirk, do not deed as Spock, as that will really confuse the issue".
