HELP! Multiple Personalities ?
For about 3 years I have been within a depressive state, have been self harming & own developed a very low self esteem. A few months ago, my mom caught me self harming and I was taken to a psychologist.
Everyone think that I have anxiety and depression as I am only 15, but unknown to everyone else, I have be talking to myself & creating characters in my head for in the region of 10 years. I was bullied as a child and was left alone for most of my schooling, I developed a exceedingly low self esteem and looked to my mind for company, I started with animal characters which then developed throughout my life. When I be young, I also used to have trouble getting to sleep because there be so much going on in my head, so I would talk to myself roughly speaking things until I fell asleep. I have always relied on my other personality for everything & if I try to bring rid of it, I will have nothing to lean back on.
What do I do ?
Best Answer: This must be tremendously distressing for you wondering if you are OK. I don'r think this is true MPD, but a similar method of managing stress. You could do very well near some psychotherapy. This may teach you to use a variety of coping mechanisms, so you don't attain 'stuck' on any particular path. This is useful because most individuals have a number of ways to help cope near life's stressors and the more ways the more choice and the easier life becomes. I wish you resourcefully.
