What happen at the first look in next to a psychiatrist ?
I have an appointment Monday and the secretary called me yesterday to confirm and she also said that a student will be present so that's making me nervous. The psychiatrist and a student. Who will do the chitchat and ask the questions ? And what do they ask and how does the first visit usually go ? I am extremely jittery. So nervous, that I'm trying not to cancel, that's how nervous I am
Best Answer: Please do not overthrow your appointment because of nerves. It is normal to be nervous when you do something for the first time. We would never get anywhere surrounded by life if we cancelled everything that made us feel nervous. When you touch your psychiatrist he will make you feel very comfortable. He know nothing about why you are seeing him; therefore, he will ask you, "why you are here to see me?" At that time, you will communicate him the reason. Be very upfront and honest with him. He may ask you question about your past and talk to you around what you are going through right now. He is a trained professional who will listen and give you sound support. Don't even pay any attention to the student while you are talking to your psychiatrist. He is only in that to observe in order to swot up more about the profession he wants to go into (being a psychiatrist). Once you start initial up to your psychiatrist, you should start to feel very comfortable, as if you were conversation to a friend. If you feel nervous talking to him, freshly let him know. After your talk session is over, usually about 45 minutes, he will possibly prescribe medication for you contained by order to treat your condition. Before seeing him, you may want to make a list of question to ask him so you don't forget. Write down what he says and the name of the medication he is giving you (if he does). Make a file and pet name it Medical to keep at home. This will be useful if you need to see doctors contained by the future. It will help him to know your past medical history and the medication you are taking. Always keep the file updated. You have nought to be nervous about. The psychiatrists sees thousands of patients a year and he is in that to help you. You will be glad you went. Good luck!

the student will more likely not say much if anything merely observe. you will be asked general questions roughly yourself, your living arraignments and what brought you in so just be honest the first visit is only just getting to know each other a little good luckRelated Questions...
