I am shy and withdrawal of confidence. What am I to do?
I am shy and I lack of confidence. I cannot even talk to my Dad without anyone a little shy. Lately, a few of my dad's friends came over to eat and I sit there without talking to anyone for a few hours. I sometime hide in a corner. I just have no topic I could natter about. What can I do to improve my confidence?

Whatever it is, root it out and be honest – the only person you will be cheating here is yourself. Practice making and maintain eye contact with people. Look at them and smile too. Ok, I was very shy when I was younger. It be debilitating. I particularly couldn't talk to boys. (I'm a girl.) I spent a undamaged weekend in total silence because my friend invited me to her beach house and also invited some male friends. I conceivably spoke three words when directly addressed. However, as I grew older, I decided I couldn't clutch it anymore. My silence was debilitating. I honestly decided that I wouldn't and couldn't be shy. So I made an crack to step out of my comfort zone. Before I would go out on social events, I would think of lists of topics to chat about. I would force myself into social situations that made me uncomfortable. It wasn't a magical change. It took me years to develop and I'm still working on it. But I leisurely became more comfortable in social situations. Think of it as a disability that must be overcome. Every time I was within a social situation, I tried to think of ways to interact in a more natural rage. If I wanted to hide, I forced myself to stay in the room. Eventually I forced myself to initiate conversations, and its finally become somewhat inborn. Just work on improving yourself.
