How can I catch rid of this pressure contained by my ears?
Yesterday afternoon, I was flying home to Detroit, and for the last 45 minutes or so of the flight to Nashville (when I presume that we were the extreme in the air) I had the most intense pain I've probably ever feel in my ears. I couldn't listen to music or read or do anything because the pain was so awful - I feel like my eardrums were being pierced... I be literally about to scream and throw myself into the floor (like the dozens of babies that were on the plane)... I don't know how to describe it, but it be awful. There was a while when I thought I'd pass out. Anyway, the thing land in Nashville finally and the pressure was up, but not completely gone, and I couldn't hear very okay (typical for me after a plane flight, but I assumed it'd go away)... after the layover there, we were flying to Houston, and one and the same thing happened - except this time it was 10 times worse and I have my head down and I was actually pounding on the seat-back table entity because it hurt so badly. By the time the stupid plane landed in Houston, I could hear almost zilch. I could hear the little beeping noise to signify that a flight attendant was in the region of to say something, but I couldn't hear them talking, and when one of the people I be flying with would try talking to me in a middle-of-the-road voice, I couldn't hear unless they yelled... in the airport, I felt disoriented and I kept running into populace and at Subway I almost gave up on ordering because I couldn't hear. The pain be still almost unbearable, even though it was a little better than it have been when we were up in the heavens. We left Houston and landed at home, and I assumed that when I woke up this morning it'd be better... but no, it's still the same. I can't hear anything and it's intolerable. I've done everything - on the plane, I chewed resembling 4 pieces of gum the whole time, I held a cup full of hot rags to my ears (scalding myself horribly in the process), pinched my snout and blew it, and several other things to no avail. Is it typical for the pain and pressure to last this long? Is it possible for your ears to be permanently shabby by the buildup of pressure?
Sorry for all the melodrama, but I'm really upset about this. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'd fairly not have to go to the doctor (though I doubt it'd come to that anyway).
By the way, I expected to put "from Detroit." I know that has no bearing on the question, but it be bugging me. :P

accidentally ate sedative twice?
I would see an audiologist. Perhaps the pressure will not release, maybe within is an infection that you were not aware of until altitude affected it. It may need to be shunted if near is a build up of fluid. Sight and Hearing = Doctor. Good LuckDoes smoking stunt your growth..?
I'm so sorry! This has happened to me before, I don`t know not AS bad but it did hurt and I couldn't hear. It went away after a day, so hopefully that'll surface for you. I think it happens when you have frail sinuses and then you fly or pop your ears unconciously. Hope you feel better!Related Questions...
