But the back of it closed up. I decided to jam a stud through. A afternoon later, it still hurts.
A.) Was I supposed to do this?

Best Answer: rhis happen to me all the time. take some alcohold or alcohol pads and rub them within the spot and also put alcohol on the earrings. it helps the pain. and keep earring contained by so this wont happen again

I used to pierce my ears just by jamming a stud through.. Your ear hurts because you re-opened the back section of skin (which is the most sensitive). What you did is completely fine, yeah there is probably a higher risk of an infection, but it's only on your ear, they are the easiest to verbs and get rid of infections. Secondly. DO NOT use alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide. These will dry your ear out, they are meant to HEAL CUTS. Not CLEAN piercings. This is the most misunderstood thing ever. I see it adjectives the time, using those products only makes the recovering more difficult on the piercing, it could even cause it to reject the piercing. Go to a local piercing store, or claires and ask for their ear piercing solution. That is the best agency to take care of your piercing. As long as you do that, you really shouldn't have anything to verbs about. Good luck ! Oh, and be sure the stud you have in the freshly pierced ear is a unadulterated metal, not a cheap one.
