Microgynon - The first week starting the pill?
I have been on this pill for 5 days now and my doctor did not inform me that I would not be covered for the first week...Is this true? I was also on amoxicilin, I did not have unprotected sex while on amoxicillin but apparently you are not covered for up to a week after taking those antibiotics?! Also, are periods a great deal shorter once going on to the pill?
Best Answer: Hii, It varies from person to person, essentially, some have a higher level of protection than others after the first week but most enjoy little protection before then. I would always loaf until you have completed your first pack before having any unprotected sex. As for the antibiotics, amoxicillin can manufacture the pill less effective so I would be very watchful & maybe even start having unprotected sex once you've completed 1 pack while NOT being on the antibiotics, i.e. possible your subsequent pack? Remember the effectiveness of the pill is at its highest when the pill is taken around the same time everyday. If you miss one, lug it as soon as you possibley can. Periods can be a lot shorter for some, maybe lasting 5 days instead of 7, and they'll be greatly lighter too. This may not happen with your first period, but don't verbs if it doesn't seem to have made any difference at first, period pains are also abolish while on the pill which is good news!

1) Yes, it is true that you're not covered, fully, for the first week (sometimes two, depending on the person) of starting Microgynon. It's because, as a tablet, it takes longer to win into your system before it can work effectively. 2) As far as I'm aware, it's true about the antibiotics bit, too, but I'm not too sure about that. 3) Microgynon, or other pills, don't necessarily trade name your periods shorter. You should be protected straihgt away, i'm aslo using microgynon 30. Antibiotics can stop it working properly, so for a week after your course use condoms- for the first period of mine using Microgynon, it made my period last for 2 weeks -suckish ey? but it should clear them alot shorter, and lighter.Related Questions...
