I know this sounds stupid, but what exactly is an OB/GYN?
Like what does she do? What's the purpose? Why is all the sudden my mom asking me if I want to see one (I'm a mid-teen)? With me, I've seen a "female specialist" beforehand (not OB/GYN) and pretty much all she said was that she wanted to bestow me birth control (for my extreme periods) and that she wanted to do a pap sample. The way she made it nouns was like the sample would simply be routine check-up and not really do anything for me ... except maybe traumatize me. I know I have scar tissue that act like a cyst from my 3 surgeries as a baby and I know I have a tilted uterus (which for some justification my alternative-chiropractor can fix [and wants to] but the doctors can't ...?) so what will the modern medical community gain from this? What will it do for me? I'm not sexually active so they won't find any STDs or STIs (whatever the term is now). Basically, what's the purpose.
And please don't christen me a stubborn lost soul or whatever. Don't preach to me of why you and all OB/GYNs are right and just. I one and only want answers.
